Before joining Gauntlett & Associates, Preston Ascherin was a Commercial Trial associate with Howrey, LLP. Mr. Ascherin has worked on cases involving fraud, breach of contract, third party liability, tax ramifications of estate planning devices, sanctions and the nature of attorney-client relationship dissolutions. Mr. Ascherin's pro bono experience includes wage and hour representation, immigration assistance, unlawful detainer action, civil litigation, and the successful negotiation of a settlement agreement for a combat veteran suffering from PTSD.

In 2007, Mr. Ascherin participated in a firm-sponsored mock trial program where he developed trial advocacy skills by taking and defending depositions, examining and cross-examining witnesses, and giving a closing argument in a simulated antitrust, patent-infringement trial.

While in law school, Mr. Ascherin served as a clerk in the Crimes Against Peace Officers Section of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where he was involved with all aspects of trial in the successful prosecution of a defendant charged with the attempted murder of a police officer. Later, Mr. Ascherin was one of twelve law students to participate in a year long trial advocacy clinic, during which he gained practical litigation experience representing clients and taking lead chair at an administrative hearing. Mr. Ascherin also received a Distinguished Advocate award while a member of the Moot Court Honors Program, and was a National Moot Court team member.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Ascherin was a financial analyst for a mortgage brokerage with a primary focus on large residential, industrial and commercial loan acquisition.
